2016 RESOLUTIONS

As 2015 is coming to close, I think it's good to reflect on the year that I have had and try to improve it next year. I love creating goals and resolutions for the new year because I think the New Year is a fresh start; we can create new habits and become better people.

If you can tell, my resolutions are mainly about my personality and trying to make myself a better person. Over the last few months, since going to college, I have become a more peaceful person. I have realized things and people that don't make me happy anymore. In 2016, my goal is to find more things that make me happy and be a more peaceful person.

Here are some of my resolutions. What are yours?

-----

1. Hang out with old friends more.

2. Stop wishing to be other people. Focus on myself.

3. Read 15 books for fun.

4. Explore Chicago and the Bay Area more.

5. Start doing yoga more, at least once a week.

6. Don't resent pretty or nice people. Compliment them.

7. Keep focusing on less surface level things. Focus on my personality, happiness, knowledge, and career.

8. Stop trying to find happiness in parties. They won't make you happy.

9. Focus on your accomplishments, rather than your failures.

10. Let go of friends that don't fulfill you and make you happy, regardless if you have history with them. Surround yourself with positive people.

11. Say more positive compliments to myself.

12. Being single is a bad thing. Focus on yourself.

CHRISTMAS 2015 GIFT GUIDE | MEN

Hey guys! Is it just me but I find that guys are the hardest to shop for. For my Dad, he always buys anything he wants himself, even leading up to Christmas. A few times, he has even bought the present we are giving him; it's really annoying. So, if any of you are having trouble buying your boyfriend, brother, or Dad a present, this gift guide is for you!

-----

gift guide for men

1. Wallet

Wallets are a great present to start out with because everyone uses one. I think men are pretty specific about what they want in wallet, so make sure you know what he likes. Other than that, wallets are great options. Once they find a good one, they use it forever.

2. Basketball/Football Jersey

This is great for the sporty guys. I think sometimes baseball or basketball jerseys can become a little bit juvenile, but when it's in t-shirt form, it's a bit better. My mom actually bought this for my brother because at 22, he loves sports but doesn't want to be walking around wearing a huge jersey.

3. Duffle Bag/Luggage

Duffle bags are great, especially for the traveler. Herschel makes some really nice ones. Black is always a safe color to get for men because it's pretty basic and goes with a lot.

4. Watch

Either men love watches, or hate them. The tech guys, like my Dad already have a device like the iPhone or iWatch and don't feel the need for a regular watch. Even though this might be true for them, watches are a great staple men's accessory especially if it's black or silver.

5. Shaving Kit

Most men shave, right? I actually bought this specific shave kit from The Body Shop for my brother because he shaves a lot and is pretty into it. This wasn't an expensive item, but it comes with a lot of nice products. If you want to go more expensive, Jack Black and The Art of Shaving have some nice products.

6. Wine Cooler

Men are either love win or they hate it. For the men who love wine, but don't have a thermal-controlled wine cooler, it is a great present to give. My brother and I are getting my Dad this.

CHRISTMAS 2015 GIFT GUIDE | WOMEN

Hey guys! For all of you procrastinators, I have just what you need, a last minute guide guide! I have 3 categories for this! Women and Men. The Men's Gift Guide will go up tomorrow!

Let's get into it!

-----

gift guide for women

1. To-Go Cups / Mugs

I think to-go cups or mugs are great to gift as gifts because basically everyone uses them. Also, if you have some extra money to spend, you can fill it up with a gift card, hand cream, lip balm, or candy. Starbucks has so many cute ones, festive or non-festive.  I also like David's Tea for mugs.

2. Pajamas

I think pajamas are great for everyone! For people living in warmer climates, you can get a cute sleep shirt or a shorts and tank combo. For people living in colder climates or like to be warm, you get them something like this from Victoria's Secret. It has a henley, long pants, and an eye mask. Also, pajamas are a great gift because if you don't know their size, just guess bigger; everyone loves big and cosy pajamas.

3. Candles

I love getting candles for people. When I go shopping for my own candles with my friends, I like to take note of what scents they like. If you don't know what scent to get them, pick something that doesn't have a strong scent. Some candles from Bath & Body Works that I think would be great for everyone are: Vanilla Snowflake, Sparkling Icicles, Eucalyptus Spearmint, and Ski Lodge. I also love going to Target and Yankee Candle for candles.

4. The Body Shop

I always love giving gift sets from the Body Shop because they are nice body products to receive; my friends mostly buy their body products from CVS. It's nice to give them something to pamper themselves with without breaking the bank. I either get them gift sets or a few large products and make a gift set myself. If I don't know what scent people like, I normally stick with Shea because it doesn't really have a strong scent but is really moisturizing. I really love the Fuji Green Tea scent.

5. Blanket Scarves

Blanket scarves are a perfect gift for the winter time, especially in colder climates. I really love the reversible ones because not only do you get 2 patterns to choose from, it's thicker than the normal ones. Express is my favorite place to get these. Check out my favorites: 1, 2.

6. Tea Samples

If you have a friend, sister, or Mom who loves tea or wants to get into tea, there are so many gift sets out right now with tea samples. This one from Teavana has four 2 oz packets of different types of loose teas. Also, it's a great way to get a look at the brand if you have never tried any of it before. A new tea store, David's Tea, just opened in my mall and they have so many samples just so you can get to know them better.

7. Makeup Kits

So many companies have makeup kits out now. My favorite are Birchbox's own brand, LOC. They have the ultimate collection (all the shadow sticks&lipsticks), one with all the eyeshadow sticks, one with all the lipsticks, singular eyeshadow sticks, singular lipsticks, or gift sets. I just got the ultimate collection and I absolutely love it; I highly recommend it.

BIRCHBOX HAUL

Hey guys! I know it's a little late to be doing a haul since Christmas is right around the corner, but I just had to share this with you.

As a late birthday present, my mom got me the LOC by Birchbox Full Collection for both eyes and lips. I really wanted these for my birthday, but they were sold out then and we had to wait.

I also got a moisturizer that was on sale. It was only $10 and I thought it was going to be small, but it's actually huge and will last me forever.

Before we finished the purchase, I put in a present for my roommate also from LOC. It includes the red lipstick (Wildest Dreams) and 2 eyeshadow sticks (On Pointe & Smoke Screen). I didn't open that one and show you guys because I didn't want to ruin the packaging or the gift itself.

I also have swatches so you can see what the colors look like. I hope you guys enjoy this haul!

Have you started Christmas shopping yet?

Links to the products will be down below.

OOTD | BLACK & RED

Hey guys! Here is another outfit post! It's getting a lot colder in Chicago, definitely sweater and coat weather. I bought some new sweaters at Pac Sun over Thanksgiving break and this happens to be one of them. It's black with a raised tribal pattern, which you unfortunately can't really see in this photo. I really liked how this sweater looked like black boots and red pants. I really liked the contrast.

I hope you enjoy this outfit!

PHOTO DIARY | THANKSGIVING

Hey guys! Sorry for this late post! I wanted to share my photo dairy from Thanksgiving! I made sure that my parents knew before college started that I wanted to come home for Thanksgiving. With my brother being so close to family at his college, he just spends Thanksgiving and Easter with them. I was lucky enough to come home because it's my favorite holiday. Our close family friends come up from Southern California and we just have the best time. It was also really great coming home and seeing my friends. I hope all of you Americans also had an amazing Thanksgiving! Happy Holidays!

Another warmer weather outfit that is making me miss the sun! I'm looking forward to the end of this week when I go home to California! This romper is one of my favorites because it looks so much like a dress while giving you the ability to move around and be comfortable. I hope you guys enjoy this outfit!
